Naptime (zzzzz...)

After days filled with heavy-lifting, haggling and sorting (and the movers done and gone - yay!), I'm ready for a nap! These are my shoes of choice at the moment, and appropriately, they're German. My notoriously frozen feet would love these boiled wool gems and my no-shoe rule for our new digs make them a necessity. Good thing Santa told me they're as good as mine! One less thing to make me blaringly American . . .

Do you hear what I hear?

Yes, that's right - this boot is calling my name, literally! How often does that happen? Must mean it was meant to be mine.

Pistol packin'

I'm rather impressed with Fergie's shoe line - especially these equally tough and cozy boots. Love the color, love the details, love it all!

One tough chick

I spied these earlier this week while trying on my Christmas List Uggs (no, no - not the marshmallow-foot kind, the real shoe kind!). They spoke to my wannabe biker chick side and I was pleasantly surprised to see a Vera Wang label I could afford (well, don't ask my husband that!) aside from Kohl's chintzy line. I love you Nordstrom half-yearly!

Euro sneaks

As I take stock of all my footwear to pack up our house, I realized the ones I keep reaching for to walk the dog or for travel are my Merrell circuit mary janes (which are currently lost in a sea of old mags and packing boxes - come out, come out, wherever you are!). I love these even sleeker Merrells for my new euro lifestyle - and what do you know, they're on sale! Couple that with a coupon I just received, and it sounds like I found my next shoe purchase, post-garage sale, of course.

On wedding hiatus . . .

Please excuse my absence. I will return once the madness has calmed down!

Marco? Polo!

While looking around my potential new home, I of course had to check out the shopping situation. The good news (for my bank account) is that not much thrilled me - lots of overpriced synthetics (damn the strong euro!). I did find one shoe line I rather liked and wished I had captured a picture of the pair I saw in the store. These grey suede ones are equally cute and give me hope for German fashion. I just hope I have better luck with German sizing options and can avoid the Parisian look of condescension when my massive feet fail to fit in their dainty footwear. Something to look forward to . . .

Convertible

A short fuzzy boot or a tall cozy boot - I love that this offers the best of both worlds! I'm kind of liking the black ones (perhaps because I'm also coveting those skinny grey cords!), but either way, two for the price of one is sounding pretty good! See, I know how to shop smart!

Uggly beautiful

Now that it is officially autumn, I can revel in my favorite fall footwear without feeling so out of step. I'd like to have these warm boots for strolling in the brisk weather, walking my dog.

Supermodel

Is it any wonder they named this lovely little shoe after one of the sexiest women ever? And only my size left? Sounds like it was made for me!

More red . . .

Love this shiny little comfort number. Never tried the brand, but had my mom order them for NYC and slipped my foot in - kind of like puffy little marshmallows under my feet. May need to pick up a pair for myself ...

Ciao bella

I've been on the lookout for some killer red heels for awhile now, and these surely fit the bill! Love that the name conjures up images of Italian cobbled streets and sexy interludes. Yeowza!

These are so sleek and beautiful, I think I will dream about them tonight.

Cozy shoes

Can't explain why I love these not-so-cute shoes; I just do.

(Perhaps it's my favorite cold-weather color coupled with a crazy-cozy lining, but that's just a guess . . . $44 doesn't hurt either!)

L.L.Bean Java Mary Janes, $44

Thank you, indeed

I'm not sure if it's the suede/patent combo or the supreme comfort I felt when trying them on, but I've been dying for these shoes for weeks. I was worried they are too "day" for wearing out at night, but I've been rethinking my skepticism. My favorite part? The extended sole that protects the usually faux leather sole from scuffing into an unsightly white tear when you stub your toe, or something equally clutzy (I can't you how many times this had happened to me!). Perhaps more versatile than a flashy party shoe, these could take me to parties, dinners, work, etc. And the caramel color? Fall for sure!

3 more weeks of summer . . .

I'm counting the days until my favorite season. These boots would like to count down with me.

Sartorialist wannabe, part II

Perhaps it's all the browsing of European fashion I've been doing (thank you, Scott Schuman!), but I've recently become obsessed with the menswear-inspired oxfords. I've had a hard time finding subtle, classic ones (no heels, no fruffy stuff) - until now. I have two reservations about these though - my experience in just trying on Frye shoes is that they're horribly stiff and uncomfortable. Anyone had any experience to the contrary? (I'd really love to be proven wrong on this one!). Secondly, grey (shown here) or dark brown? I love that the grey feels like more updated, but perhaps it's too light considering the size of my feet. Much to consider . . . In the meantime, I will continue to pine for them. Oh, how I long to be European!

Frye Erin Oxford, $168

Naturalizer ... continued

Is it a sandal, or is it a shoe? I love these crossover shoes that give the best of both worlds. I see these being equally at home with dark skinny jeans and a dark pedi or with a short skirt and opaque tights. Score one more for Naturalizer!

Oh, how I miss dressing up for work ... These shoes remind me of all that I am missing.

Go fish

After buying my bachelorette sandals - and receiving the latest catalog - I've found myself perusing Naturalizer's website a lot more. I'd almost forgotten how great its shoes are - reasonably priced (even more amazing sale prices!), fashionable (once you get through the clunky grandma styles) and super comfortable (Aerosoles have nothing on these!). So even though I'm still fixated on the fall styles, I've decided I owe at least one post to seasonally-appropriate footwear. Super-cute, on-trend and under $30? Sold!

Sartorialist wannabe

These shoes are painfully gorgeous, but I fear that's all they'd be - a pain. There's no way I could hobble around in 5-inch heels and look like anything more than an uncoordinated member of the WNBA. How do all those wonderfully chic women do it I see on the Sartorialist? If I knew their secret, these shoes would be mine! (And who can resist them being named after the cutest French movie ever?!) For now, I would be satisfied to keep them on a shelf, only wearing them to sleep in. Ahhh, bonne nuit ...

Fall flowers

Found myself with some time to kill this afternoon and found myself at the mall - I know, surprise, surprise, right? Well I fell in love with a beautiful grey handbag and these lovely flats at Banana - so perfect for fall and with the new straight leg jeans I'm wanting!

Girl's night out

So I found the perfect dress for my bachelorette party, but have been having a heck of a time with shoes. I'd been hoping for a navy patent pump to compliment my lovely new silk Martin + Osa - no such luck. But upon finding these (I love you, Endless!) for a steal, I think this flashy bronze will go beautifully with the orange-y tones in my dress and still keep me dancing all night long.

Naturalizer Praliso sandal, $46.34 for bronze (other colors as low as $38!)

One word:

Precious!

(Although I'm wondering why they are not offered in the lovely lilac color shown in the header. If those show up as an option, I may not be able to resist!)

My Legacy

While in Seattle, my mom apparently thought of me and took a picture at this museum in Pike's Place Market. Good to know my sideshow-like proportions will be good for something one day! I only hope my kids can profit if I end up here.
